 when she arrived at the psychiatric hospital , she thought that she was a spy and that everyone else was one too , working for different agencies 

when she asked the other patients about it they all agreed that we were all spies 

mums family of course dont believe that she was sexually abused . that would be to admit that their own parents were abusers . A parallel reality that they would find intolerable . But Liza was told about the abuse from two different sources . And its her own mothers truth to be honoured in memory of her 

her death a charred blacked out space that she cant fathom . Was Liza to blame for the suicide ? at 15 years old she was expected to administer mental health care . ' leaving me in my hour of need ' said mother 

she said that Liza was cold, which she really isnt , just people say that when they want more of her . She thought Liza was too ambitious 

mother was a defender of the underdog who would talk to anyone , lab colleagues , toilet attendants , other mothers at the playground . She was affectionate and cuddly and breast fed her children . Working on her story , Liza felt her arms around her like shed come back to life , a cyber relationship with the dead . Remembering things she actually said 

And that wierd thing were you sometimes benefit from a tragedy and had a more interesting life because of it 

she thought that their fathers family was a bunch of pompous culture vultures , the bourgeoisie . Which was not entirely fair considering she was being sexuallly abused by her own parents . And the toll it took on Dads health who was made to shoulder all the guilt for two families . As he tried to stand firm for them through her illness and subsequent suicide after 18 attempts 

when Liza tries to quit her benzo all this horror floods in 

there was this incredible storm
outside the hospital
the wailing sounded like witches and demons
they cry and hiss
